RIVES DE LA HAUTE DEULE - LE MARAIS DE LOMME

Continuing the Rives de la Haute Deûle eco-district, the project, located in the former wasteland of the Marais de Lomme where nature dictates the rules of urbanization.

The strategy of ‘passing nature’ and increasing biodiversity is not incompatible with the urban project, nor with density. The assessment established for the district around Leblan-Lafont and the water station in Bois-Blancs demonstrates this compatibility, and even the renaturation services provided by the rainwater management systems linked to the new urbanization.

The precise ecological survey not only of the trees but of the environments in relation to the different types of soil linked to the industrial history of the site, sets up the strategy of 'passing nature'

Vegetation management to transform a wasteland into a park involves the diagnosis of the heritage and offers management of invasive plants using eco-grazing.

The consultation over more than a year made it possible to meet the residents and neighbors of the Marais district in Lomme, and to discover together the assets of this long-inaccessible wasteland. Children from 3 surrounding schools actively participated in the invention of play spaces bringing the element of dream and imagination which nourished the project choices.
